ES Global
for a just & sustainable world

Our History

ES Global was born in 1998 of a desire to work with organizations, large and small, to profitably participate in and contribute to creating a more just and sustainable world. Over the years, we have worked with some of the most innovative and creative agencies in the world, including the United Nations Capital Development Fund’s (UNCDF), UNDP, KfW, the IFC, SIDA, CIDA, USAID and other leading multi-lateral organizations.

From 2004 through 2010, we managed projects to support the development of national microfinance strategies in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone for the UNCDF, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW) and other donors. In Jordan, we undertook a national survey of small business needs for the United States Agency for International Development. And for numerous other clients such as ShoreCap, the Cooperative Housing Federation, Triodos Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, we have provided a range of technical assistance, training and management consulting services to micro and small businesses and projects.

With our team's long background in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and socially responsible investment (SRI), in 2004-2005, we published with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank “Sustainable and Responsible Investments in Emerging Markets”, a landmark document which provided an overview and inventory of social investment in developing countries. Over the last four years, we have offered executive training in CSR and sustainability strategy and sustainability reporting to over 200 corporate executives.

2009 marked a transformational year for ES Global with the formal launch of our expanded Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability practice areas.

After 20+ years and over 200 assignments, we believe more than ever that business, working together with the public sector and civil society, can make a powerful wealth creating contribution to sustainable economies without compromising profitability or corporate value. We believe that the 21st century will be the century of sustainable business, where the most successful companies will be those that can help the world meet growing material needs in a sustainable manner.

While ES Global has changed over the years, our vision remains the same: it is one of inclusiveness; where those “with” and those “without” are equally valued; where there is respect for the ecosystems that provide for all our needs, present and future; and where the world’s prosperity is measured not by income alone, but by the abundance and security shared by all.
